In addition to the checks that virus scanning software performs, the XD-1000 may be configured to do more exhaustive malicious code checking. For example, some organizations may not permit JavaScript or ActiveX code to be passed from one network to another. In this scenario, the appliance can check for the existence of different strings in files to be transferred and if found, disallow these types of files. Another option would be to install commercial malware software on the XD-1000, offering another level of protection.
