The physical separation of networks, security considerations and the implementation of firewalls to protect internal networks from outside threats make it more difficult for users to access all of their email in a single application. The network infrastructure and workstations needed to support email on multiple networks results in a significant cost to the organization. So, the OWM capability reduces the need for users to have multiple workstations. Kiosks become a more viable option for users that only occasionally have a need to send an email from another network.
